Enterprise MDM & Endpoint Management
Endpoint Management · MDM · IT Operations
I have hands-on experience building MDM environments from scratch using Hexnode and Iru, managing Android and Windows endpoints across enrollment, policy enforcement, application deployment, restrictions, monitoring and ongoing administration.
The problem
Managing endpoints is not the same as enrolling them. A reliable MDM environment has to connect requirements, enrollment, group design, policies, application delivery, restrictions, compliance checks, pilot validation, rollout and operational support.
This is a public, sanitized view of hands-on MDM work with Hexnode and Iru. It focuses on implementation and ongoing administration across Android and Windows, without exposing a tenant, device inventory, employee mapping or company policy.
The approach
Build from the operating need outward: assess the endpoint scenarios, set up the platform and enrollment path, establish sensible groups and policy targeting, then validate a pilot before a controlled rollout.
Treat administration as continuous. Monitor enrollment, policy and application status, investigate devices that do not check in or receive configuration, correct the cause and validate the device again.
My role — Hands-on MDM implementation and administration: building Hexnode and Iru environments from scratch, defining enrollment and policy approaches, managing Android and Windows endpoints, deploying applications, monitoring compliance and resolving operational issues.
Endpoint implementation & operations
Built from platform setup through ongoing device operations.
Hands-on MDM work spans initial setup, enrollment, policies, applications, restrictions, monitoring and support — across Android and Windows.
HEXNODE
Hands-on platform setup from scratch, device enrollment, Android and Windows administration, policies, application deployment, restrictions, monitoring, rollout and troubleshooting.
IRU
Hands-on MDM environment implementation from scratch and ongoing administration across endpoint enrollment, policy configuration, Android/Windows management where applicable, applications, device controls, monitoring and support.
Building an MDM environment from scratch

Requirements & device assessment. Understand the endpoint scenarios and what operations need to manage.
Android management
Android endpoints, managed as part of an operating model.
- Android Enterprise enrollment and management across organizational device scenarios
- Device policies, restrictions and security controls
- Managed application deployment and configuration
- Managed Google Play where applicable
- Device status, compliance and remote administration
- Endpoint troubleshooting and ongoing support
Windows management
Windows endpoints, configured and supported through MDM.
- Windows device enrollment and configuration policies
- Endpoint restrictions, browser and security configuration
- Application deployment and installation-status review
- Device status, update and compliance visibility
- Troubleshooting failed configuration and policy assignment
- Ongoing endpoint administration
Device policy management
These are the endpoint-control categories managed through MDM. They are examples of policy types, not a claim that every control was implemented for every platform.
Security
Password and security requirements, camera or screenshot controls where appropriate.
Applications
Required applications, allow/block rules, managed configuration and updates.
Hardware
Endpoint controls such as USB or device capability restrictions where supported.
Browser
Browser configuration and browsing restrictions appropriate to the device scenario.
System settings
Configuration policies that define the expected managed device state.
Connectivity
Network-related endpoint configuration where supported by the platform and policy.
Updates
Update visibility and policy controls appropriate to the endpoint platform.
Compliance
Status signals used to identify endpoints that need investigation or support.
Application deployment & management
- 01Application
- 02MDM platform
- 03Device group
- 04Deployment policy
- 05Android / Windows devices
- 06Installation status
Applications are assigned through a defined device group and deployment policy, then checked for a visible installation result.
Pilot to production
Endpoint policies should be validated with pilot devices before wider production rollout. That is how configuration work becomes operationally reliable.
Requirements. Start with the endpoint and operating needs.
Monitoring & operations
Operational review keeps the fleet manageable by making the signals that need attention clear. The display below uses state labels only — it contains no production device count or status data.
Synthetic operations model — no live MDM connection, endpoint inventory or production status is shown.
MDM troubleshooting
Policy not applying
Confirm enrollment, group and policy targeting before changing the setting.
Check enrollment. Confirm the device entered management successfully.

My contribution
The work covers implementation and operations — not only end-user enrollment.
Implementation
- Platform setup from scratch
- Enrollment and device-group approach
- Policy and restriction configuration
- Application deployment and rollout preparation
Operations
- Android and Windows endpoint administration
- Device status and compliance visibility
- Failed policy/application investigation
- Ongoing monitoring, troubleshooting and support
Key engineering decisions
- Platform implementation
- Device enrollment
- Android management
- Windows endpoint management
- Policy configuration
- Application deployment
- Restrictions and security controls
- Monitoring and troubleshooting

Challenges & limitations
- Hexnode and Iru are named as hands-on platforms, but no proprietary tenant configuration or unverified product feature is represented as public fact.
- Android Enterprise is described at an organizational-scenario level. This page does not claim implementation of every ownership model.
- The diagrams use synthetic device names, groups and states. They are explanatory models, not a live device-management console or production dashboard.
What I learned
Endpoint management gains trust when every change has a target, a pilot path and a visible outcome — especially when the endpoint that needs help is the exception rather than the average device.
